Erie County Sheriff's Police Benevolent Association (ECS PBA) Endorses John Garcia for Sheriff
“Our board was overwhelmingly in support of endorsing John Garcia, and it was a robust discussion about all of the candidates, said Tim Donovan, President, ECS PBA. “In the end we decided John is the best candidate and understands the needs and concerns of our membership as well as other law enforcement agencies and organizations in these difficult and challenging times.”
In addition to Garcia’s endorsement by the ECS PBA, he also has been endorsed by the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association; Erie County Sheriff’s Teamsters Local 264; WNY Association of Retired Law Enforcement Personnel, Inc. (W.A.R.P.); NYS Association of Hostage Negotiators (NYAHN); and, former Erie County Sheriff and current New York State Senator Patrick M. Gallivan.
“John’s experience speaks for itself, and his qualifications check all the boxes as far as who can best serve our members as well as the residents and taxpayers of Erie County in the role of sheriff,” Donovan continued. “These are unprecedented times to be a member of law enforcement, and we strongly believe John is the best candidate that can most effectively navigate us through them.”

The Police Benevolent Association of the New York State Troopers, Inc. is proud to announce the endorsement of John Garcia for election as Erie County Sheriff.
It is with careful consideration that the NYSTPBA is endorsing John Garcia for election as Erie County Sheriff. John Garcia served the City of Buffalo and Erie County residents for twenty-five years as a Buffalo Police Officer. He worked in the Gang Unit, Narcotics and Vice, Commander of the Crisis Management Unit and retired in 2019 as a Homicide Detective. His dedication to a life of public service continued after his retirement as he is a Criminal Investigator for the Erie County Bar Association. He has served with dignity, pride and unwavering dedication to his community for over 25 years. His lifetime of service and experience will serve the residents of Erie County well as their Sheriff.

Police Conference of New York (PCNY) Endorses John Garcia for Erie County Sheriff
The Police Conference of New York, Inc. (PCNY) is a statewide organization which was founded in 1925 and now represents 229 PBA’s plus 8 regional conferences and one retired police association, with a total of 25,000 police officers throughout the State.

Buffalo Police Benevolent Association (PBA) Endorses John Garcia
The Buffalo PBA was an early endorser, announcing on Feb 5 their support for John:
Garcia served in the Buffalo Police Department from 1994 until 2019. He was a patrolman from 1994 until 2006 and a Detective in the Narcotics, Intelligence and Vice Enforcement Bureau from 2007 until 2016. He also served as a Detective in the Homicide Squad from 2016 until 2019.
“Our members are very enthusiastic about supporting John’s candidacy for Erie County Sheriff,” said PBA President John Evans. “John knows what it’s like to walk a mile in our shoes. He understands the pressures and complexities of the job as a Buffalo police officer. He also has extensive experience dealing with mental health incidents, which is based on real world experience on the city’s streets not from behind a desk.
